I am a nurse who cares for medically fragile children in Woodinville Washington. Last month we were blessed with the privilege of caring for a 8month old baby, Seraphine. Her name speaks volumes, it means ANGEL. This was so true in every sense of the word. I have been a nurse for 33 years and for the last 10 years I have worked with medically fragile children in a home like environment. This children have all touched my heart deeply and Seraphine was very special. Her mother and father came to us very scared, angry, and confused by all the medical needs Seraphine required. We work very closely with these families especially when the situation becomes an end of life issue. Seraphine suffered from a meconium aspiration at birth and what was previously a normal pregnancy and delivery ended in any parents worse nightmare. My brother is Kirk Kief, whom is very involved with NILMDTS. He had been to a seminar and had just sent me some information on what he learned and was involved in. Seraphine had resided with us at Children's Country Home for about 3 months and she was nearing the end of her life with us. I was so touched by the NILMDTS website, that I was compelled to share it with Seraphines mother and father. I have never seen photos done with such love and caring and the most beautiful tenderness in all my life. The very thought of Charlotte and Dwayne having such a precious keepsake of their daughter absolutely over whelmed me. I called my brother and he put me in touch with a photographer, Jennifer Egan. She was located in Everett, which is very close to us. She came out to the home on two different occasions and took what I think where photos showing pure love. She captured every crease, fold and dimple on this beautiful angel. I was there to monitor the baby as well as all the equipment and was in awe of how special this was for mom and dad. Seraphine died a week after her photo shots and Jenn saw to it that she had at least one of the Cd's for the funeral. Seraphines shot life here on earth was a very difficult one. She was plagued with constant seizures and respiratory difficulties. Sadly her most peaceful times where under the influence of morphine. This organization brought to the parents and nurses of our little angel a true sense of beauty and love, that her parents will cherish forever. Thank You! You can not possibly know what a blessing you have brought to us all.
