Ok, standing in line today at Starbucks, waiting for my latte...
Kenny Loggin's song 'Return to Pooh Corner' (which by the way, I have decided to rename, "Maddux's song...") comes on over the loud speaker.
Now, I don't hear this song too often in the general population...
Anyhow, as I am standing in line, I get this incredibly warm feeling...
Can't explain, maybe nerves...anxiety, but then I had this incredible and overwhelming thought...And it gave me goosebumps...
My thought was this...
Maddux is thinking about me, and this is his way to let me know...
How incredible is that...???
Has anyone else had this thought when you hear your baby's special song?????

I don't have a special song for Lindsey, but when we were visiting in Colorado, and Natalie described Lindsey to me, from what she saw that night when Lindsey came down to get Maddux and Daniel... she said Lindsey had blonde hair and squinty/slanty eyes. I don't know if you looked at Kaley very close, but Kaley's eyes are naturaly that way. When I look at Kaley's eyes now, and I catch them in a certain light, I see Lindsey. It's so comforting to me. Ok, to see Kaley's eyes anyway have always given me comfort, but now I know why they have always had that little extra something.
I told Natalie thank you for describing Lindsey to me, but give her a hug and tell her thanks again. Heck, give all your kids a hug for me.

Scott (or tim, who ever Natalie remembers me by)

That is very cool Cheryl! I know that warm feeling myself, sometimes it's when I hear Daniels Song. Other times it's when I see something completely out of character which happens from time to time. Like a persistant lady bug or a rainbow without the rain first.

Cheryl,
I was at Riverside Hospital last week talking to the NICU staff and clergy about NILMDTS. We are starting NILMDTS services there in Nov. When I started my car to leave, Marah's song was playing (One More Day by Rascal Flats). It is rare that I hear that song on the radio because it is an oldie. I felt like Marah was trying to tell me something-"Good job, Mom. You're doing a good thing for all those moms who will need photographs." I couldn't even pull out of the parking lot. I just had to sit and listen and appreciate the moment.

Now if we could just get more professional music artists to donate their music to NILMDTS for this purpose. There is so much power in a song and melody...
Not to mention the ability to bring peace and healing...

My husband have two songs that make us really think about our little angel, Devin Lorraine. They are George Carland's "My Name" and StoneSour's "Through Glass"

Cheryl,

I havent had a chance to share my story yet (I lost a full term baby girl in September two days after her birth to a cord accident), but my song moment happened when I was in my car just getting ready to return to my ob/gyn for my 6 week postpartum check up. The main reason I was there was to discuss several serious problems the clinic has in dealing with the aftermath of a loss (for example: I received a letter from them saying "Congratulations on the birth of your baby!" one month after my baby girl had died). Anyway, right before I left my car I said "God, give me the strength to get my point across to these doctors so changes will be made!". Immediately, the song "When I look to the sky" by Train came on the radio. We had played it at Emma's funeral.

Hi Julie,

I'm am so very sorry for your loss of your precious daughter Emma Kate. I am sorry to say that I can relate to your loss. My husband and I just lost our precious daughter who we named Emma also one month ago today. Our situation, however, is different in the aspect that she was only 24 weeks gestation or 6 months along when I delievered her stillborn due to Fetal Hydrops. We had 3 1/2 weeks to prepair for her impending death. I can't imagine how difficult it would be to lose a perfectly healthy full term baby to a freak cord accident and to have no warning. I again am so sorry for you. I go in on November 30th for my 6 week post-delievery appointment and I am hoping that my doctor remembers our situation and doesn't ask any inappropriate questions given the situtation with the loss of Emma. Good for you on confronting your hospital, clinci, and doctors!!! Good luck to you. I will be waiting for you to share your precious Emma's story with all of us here at Now I Sleep.

Love,

Brooke (Emma Dori's Mom)

Ps. Great name that you gave your daughter!!!

Brooke,

Thank you for your kind words. I dont know how large of a facility your ob/gyn clinic is, but ours is the largest in the area, therefore, it's a very busy place. I made it a point to make special arrangements with my nurse directly so that I didnt have to check in at the front desk and potentially wait for an hour with all the pregnant ladies and new babies for my 6 week appointment. When I arrived I was able to just head straight into my doctors office and avoid the usual routine. Just a thought for your return visit. I think our situations surely justify a little extra special attention from the doctors! ;)

Good luck to you!

Julie

Our song for Kaydence is called "Watch Over My Baby" by a group called Quartus, they are actually a band from here in Sioux City....they are not very wide-spread yet but are getting there....we played this song at Kaydence's funeral, it was actually written by one of the band members for another of the band members and his wife who lost a child to early miscarriage and it talks about meeting up with your child in heaven and doing the things you would have done if they had stayed on earth and how we cant wait to be reunited with our angels in heaven...it is very moving...i wish there were someway to share it with some of you but their CD's are only sold locally right now and this was their first CD and im not sure you can even get it anymore they aren't signed at a label yet..they do have a myspace page and we have been emailing with some of the band members letting them know how much their music comforts us...

I have many songs that remind me of Payton but the one that kills me when it comes on is Holes in the Floor of Heaven by Steve Warner. The reason for that is on the day we buried him it was cold but fairly nice out Feb 23,2007 and in Idaho still definatly winter but as we got to the grave site and my husband and son were carrying his tiny casket out of nowhere it started hailing hard too. So I guess it just reminds me that he watches over me. Lyssa

Mary Louise,

I'm sorry i didnt notice your post about the song until just now, i just went and sent off an email to two of the band members about it so we will see what they will say, I dont know a whole lot about asking a band for requesting to use their music for something like NILMDTS so could you tell me how we would go about this and what would be involved? Thank you!

Hi Lindzy, no biggie!
Just ask if we can use it for NILMDTS and get a release from them. Tell them when we use it we will give them credit. The best persons to ask tho are Kirt or Cheryl. hope this helps.

Cheryl, Mary Louise and ALL...
My wife chose the song "I Can Only Imagine" by MercyMe for our slide show. I wanted to use it for the Baby Books on NILMDTS site, so I went on their web site, found contact info and the area to request use of the song. They gave me permission for our DVD's and to use it with our slide show on the site! Rita Springer also does a version of the song, so I emailed her asking if she would let it be used for NILMDTS, but no reply yet. And Celine Dion has a song "Fly" that's great, so I emailed her too. I'm getting a list together of some of the other songs we like and I figured, it can't hurt to ask!

Way to go Mike. I feel that the artist(or group) would have a hard time saying no to a parent. I would think they would be honored. Make sure you credit them, and keep a copy of their permission. Can we also use that song or did they only give a one time usage?
Thanks Mike for doing this, I know Molly is smilling down on you.
Hugs
