As an avid scrapbooker, I have experienced the healing power of scrapbooking on many levels. Recently, I find myself creating a page in my "book of me" album in remembrance of each NILMDTS session...it gives me a creative outlet for my own emotional state after providing this service. I've been thinking alot lately about the crops I attend, with lots of folks sharing ideas and getting creative for a few uninterrupted hours...and what a resource that may be to bereaved parents. The idea bouncing around in my head is this...find local scrapbooking stores across the country that offer crops (and most do, usually cost anywhere from 10-35 bucks to attend) that would be willing to offer a complimentary, private crop for bereaved families like once a month. Any thoughts?>

I think it sound like a great idea!!!! Maybe I will check into that here in WI.
Thanks for sharing. I would love to have more time to scrapbook... as my bright idea was to make my daughters babybook this way, well in 13 months she has given me time to do... OH 1 page, maybe not such a great choice for me. LOL She is a handfull, but I treasure every second with her and that is how everything else seems to be neglected. LOL

I love to scrapbook also. I am having a hard time finding the perfect album for our little girl that was born into Heaven. I like your idea about complimentary crops. Wouldn't it be neat to find someone that would put on a weekend retreat for brereaved families. I will do some searching.

I had an idea also about if we are unable to find "stores" to do this how about private scrapbooking companies that do home shows such as Stampin' up and Creative memories??? I know a couple of consultants and am definently going to ask them... even if the only donate their time and a few items.

I know a couple Creative Memories consultants - 1 from MN and 1 in WI. I will have to run the idea by them and get there thoughts about it or see if they have heard of such of a thing for breaved families.

The consultant idea is great too. It may be more comfortable for families to get together in their own home. I am working on some ideas to give to my local stores....I'll keep everyone posted. :)

I recieved an email from a consultant about two retreats March 2007 and Oct. 2007 that she does every year. I am going to email her and asked her what she thinks of the ideas for bereaved families or what she can offer.

Scrapbooking has been a lifesaver to me through all my grieving and healing! I've completed an entire album of my baby girl over the past year, and I still continue to make pages here and there dealing with my own thoughts about her. I have many of my pages uploaded into a gallery and they can be viewed here if you are interested... http://twopeasinabucket.kaboose.com/album_display.asp?album_id=59135
Also, the local supprt group from our hospital that I attended, Empty Arms, held a scrapbooking session in conjunction with one of the Scrapbook Stores here. I was not able to attend but the owners of the store had later given me some pretty vellum quotes to use on my pages. These can be found here: http://www.pregnancylossribbons.com/heartspokenvellumquote.htm
I loved everyone else's ideas here, and I just wanted to add that if you have thought about starting a scrapbook or a shadowbox about your angel, but haven't, it's never to late! It certainly has been a very theraputic and meaningful process for me!
