Last year around this time, the movie Troy was really popular. My then 11 year old son, Chase, just loved it. (Achilles, Brad Pitt was his hero...) He is really into mythology and the likes. We had Maddux's name picked out and for his middle name I had chosen the name Aidian. So, our fourth child was to be Maddox Aidian Haggard. (Notice the spelling of his first name.) This was a big debate between Mike and myself over the spelling of his first name.

After watching the movie Troy, Chase said, it would be cool if Maddux's middle name was Achilles. My husband and I looked at eachother, funny at first, and then seriously. I said Maddox Achilles Haggard. It has a ring to it. So, that is how Maddux came to get the middle name Achilles. After he was born, and he was in the NICU, the Doctor asked my husband how to spell Maddox. Of course, Mike spelt it the way he wanted, MADDUX, after baseball great, Greg Maddux.

Now the funny to this story is...
Last week I took my children to see the new movie KING KONG. It was incredible. Natalie, (5) fell asleep even before the previews were over, Anna fell asleep after the first 1 1/2 hours, and Chase and I sat there staring at the giant screen, mesmorized. At the end, as we all know, when Kong is killed, I looked over at Chase, and we both have giant tears falling from our eyes. Chase said that this was the best movie he has ever seen.

It was then that I realized, and gave a giggle, thinking that if this movie had come out last year at this time, Chase would have suggested Maddux's middle name be ...... Kong.
Maddux Kong Haggard. Could you imagine...

Oh hey, another interesting bit of Trivia...
Did you know that my husband Mike, grew up in Springfield? He and Brad Pitt graduated the same year, but my husband went Glendale, and Brad went to Kickapoo.
