This is an incredible story about three dedicated nilmdts photographers...thank you for sharing your gifts with this family.
Name: Janet Giove
Subject: A Long Story from a Grateful Nana
Message: First, I want to thank you for the photography services you offer to bereaved families. Back in September 2006, my unborn granddaughter was diagnosed with Trisomy 18, a disorder usually considered "incompatible with life" by the medical community.
My son and daughter-in-law decided to continue with the pregnancy, but not knowing what the outcome would be, I contacted a photographer, MaryLouise Delano, in RI that I found thru' your NILMDTS site. She was a lovely person to talk to, and told me she would "be honored" to take pictures of the baby and family when the time came.
Sadly, my granddaughter died in utero on December 5. Unfortunately, MaryLouise was out state on family business, and was unable to get back to RI to take pictures when my granddaughter was delivered. I found another wonderful person, Judith LaLiberte, another photographer in RI, who came to the hospital, explained what she would be doing, and sat with us for several hours while waiting for my granddaughter's delivery. This was on Thursday, December 7. Because Judy had other committments over the next two days, she, too, was unable to stay and take pictures for us. I was determined to get someone to come and take pictures of Ceilidh (pronounced Kaylee), that my son and daughter-in-law, and I could keep and cherish, so I continued looking for a photographer thru' your site.
On Friday night, December 8, I found Stephanie Kimball from MA, yet another kind, lovely woman. She, too, agreed to come to the hospital and do the photography for us. On Saturday morning, December 9, Stephanie drove from MA to RI with her assistant, a siser-in-law, whose name escapes me at the moment. Stephanie and her sister-in-law waited in the lobby with us until nearly 3pm, when my son came down and told us Ceilidh had been delivered. When we all went upstairs to "meet" Ceilidh, Stephanie gave us a few minutes alone as a family, then she and her sister-in-law came into the room and very unobtrusively went about their busines of taking many pictures.
Although I hope never to be in this situation again, I have to tell you that the pictures that Stephanie took, the three I've seen so far, are absolutely beautiful. My son and daughter-in-law are thrilled that they have beautiful, tangible reminders of the daughter they lost. I can't wait to see the other pictures as well as the DVD. Althouh I know I will probably need a whole box of kleenex when I see the pictures, I look forward to seeing once again the granddaughter I miss with all my heart.
From the bottom of my heart, please accept my sincerest thanks for NILMDTS and the three beautiful women who blessed our lives, two for but a short time, but who tried, nonetheless, and one who blessed our lives forever with pictures of Ceilidh.
Always,
Janet Giove
