I received this email tonight, and wanted to share it because I think it speaks so deeply to how what we are all doing is so important. I think as photographers, we take for granted the skill we have, the talent we have - I know I do....and these families are so touched by what we offer.

This minister took the time to write me tonight upon viewing the family's slideshow that I prepared this week.

Heather:

I am the minister for tomorrow’s funeral service for Emerson. I met with Karey and Andrew this morning to plan the service. We discussed using your presentation in the service. They just emailed it to me to preview. I felt compelled to email you and tell you how incredibly powerful your work was to me. Not only am I impressed with your willingness to volunteer your time in situations like this but your work is simply stunning. It has been such a valuable tool in the grieving process for Karey and Andrew and will be such a gift for those attending the service tomorrow.

As you well know, at times like these families are not in the mood nor feel inspired to take pictures. What you have done is to create a remembrance that they will treasure for years to come but, as I said, is also such a valuable tool for them in living the challenge of life at this moment.

I’ve checked out your website and that of NILMDTS and was so very impressed with what I saw. I know that Karey is hoping to have donations go to the NILMDTS or to your costs or somewhere affiliated with the organization. I do hope this can happen. What a tribute to Emerson, to allow other families the opportunity of sharing in a resource such as this!

I have nothing to ask of you, and expect no response. I simply write to thank you for sharing your talent in this remarkable way. I don’t know how religious or spiritual you might be (though your work speaks of a deep connectedness with life and spiritual energy) but allow me, if I may be so bold, to say that God has given you a gift and you are doing something awfully good and profoundly significant in the cosmos by sharing your gift in this wonderful way.

Your work will enhance the service tomorrow far more than you can imagine. Thank you, so very much.
