Not sure if this is going to pull up or not. I am still learning. But this is my son, my 'angel baby', Renny Sebastian Olson, 11 ounces, 10.5 inches long, 9-4-2006 :o
Are these pictures clear to everyone else? I have a really old computer, and free internet, and nothing is clear on these pics. Also, can these pics (and more I have) be retouched to add clarity and stuff if they were taken from a cell phone??

Janeice,

They don't look blurry to me. I love the third image of Renny... he looks so beautiful and peaceful. I'm not sure what you can and can't do with cell phone images, but I do know that you can enlarge a small image, by increasing it's size by 110% until it's the size that you want without loosing much clarity... might be worth giving it a try.

Hi Janeice~
Renny is a doll! The files are really, really small... not sure what size prints you'll be able to have made? I tried to increase the size of the file and converted to b/w... not sure there are any ways to make the photos 'clearer'~

Janeice,

I'm afraid of this sounding too technical. I understand that these are emotional questions too, about a real child and how you can get the best photos possible to help remember.

The pictures of Renny alone look to me like they were taken through a light diffusion filter. You can use various techniques to make a photograph APPEAR to be sharper, but if you go too far with that, the image starts to deteriorate. It's hard to describe the effect, but it's not good. And you can't ever get real sharpness in an image where it wasn't in the original. As a simple example, photograph a page of text. If you can't read the text in the original, you can uprez and sharpen all you want, but you won't be able to read the text any better after you've done them.

Are the pictures you've uploaded the full-sized images? Several of us might try to improve the sharpness and detail and see what happens. Let me know if you'd like me and/or others to attempt that.

All cel phone images are not the same. But, I think even the best ones can't compete with simple point & shoot cameras for image size/quality.

Consider having an artist create a painting from your photo collection. They can fill in detail that just doesn't exist in the photographs. And they can make the image as large as you want and still have detail.

Let me know if you want help working with the images.

Bill-
I didn't have the opportunity to have a professional photographer at his birth, yes, I would love the opportunity to have you play around with the images. I have a couple digital images that the hospital shot for me too. I just feel dumb when it comes to this technical stuff. I guess it would help if I had an up to date computer!! I have the images on my sprint pcs web site, can I email them to you? or what is the best way to get them to you??
Thanks for helping!
Janeice

Sara,

Last I heard, Janeice was going to send me some pictures, both prints and digital (cell phone, I believe.) That was 3-4 days ago. My plan is to scan the prints so we will have digital originals of everything. I've asked for the full-size digital files (not sure if they are bigger than what she posted here though.)

I plan to work on enhancements if possible, but I'll also post here with anything I get. Of course, I'll send any original scans back to Janeice as well.

I have Genuine Fractals from OnOne; it can upsize images to rediculous sizes, so I am willing to help. Art@AJWPhoto
