My older daughter Rylei, who will be 5 this month on the 22nd, is going to have eye surgery this week on the 8th. She has some vision problems and had surgery when she was 9 months old to correct a birth defect that could have caused her to go blind. She got glasses a few months ago to correct her vision, but her eyes have continued to cross towards the middle the last several months and the glasses did not help like the doctor thought they would so they are going to go in and tighten the muscles in both eyes. I am very nervous about this and have been praying to have the strength to be there the way Rylei will need me this week. I'm very nervous about going back into a hospital and for another one of my children to have surgery so soon after Kaydence's death. All the fears and worries that we had with Kaydence and her surgeries keep popping into my head. I was so worried that it would be at the same hospital and I would have to sit in the same waiting room but thank god it isnt. I know that it is not as big a surgical procedure as the ones Kaydence went through but I am very scared and would appreciate any prayers that we can get for my Rylei to get through this safely and have a safe recovery. Thank you so much.

Lindzy-
Any surgery on our babies is terrifying- it's not heart surgery or brain surgery but it's just as scary for us.
Prayers said for her- AND YOU!

Lindzy,
Rylei would be in my thoughts and prayers. I am so sorry that you have to be going through this so soon after Kaydence. Please know that if I were there, I'll be holding your hands very tightly right now.

Just wanted to update and let everyone know that Rylei had her surgery yesturday and things went well. We are home doing some recovering...the swelling and everything by her eyes is good but she is experiencing a severe headache, i spoke with the doctor and he wondered if she picked up a cold or infection in the hospital so she is taking some medication to help with the pain and hopefully the headache will improve...she was a big trooper though, smiled through it all, i think i was more of a basket case it was very scary seeing another child go into surgery after having Kaydence pass away just 5 weeks ago but with some praying i held it together but i am keeping a very close eye on her with the headache and all dont want her ending up back in hospital...thank you to all that prayed for my big girl...

Lindzy,
I'm glad to hear that things went well (with the exception of the headache). How is Rylei feeling today?

Poor thing, I can imagine how stressed you were feeling! My dad has had multiple eye surgeries before and I know I was always worried each time...and he's not my child and I am not in your situation which could only magnify the concern. I'm so glad she's doing well. How much longer does she have to do the dreaded eye drops?

Oh, my dad has had very very very bad eyes his whole life. He was in glasses with essentially one eye blind at 2, and then in college he had a sand filter for a pool he was building explode in his face while he was wearing contacts (the hard kind...not even as nice as gas permeable) which damaged his eyes. He's had botulism injected into his eye muscles more than once to try and deaden them so that the other side would get stronger. He JUST had some major surgery to get rid of cataracts and do the vision correction so he can see without glasses in his one eye now (except he has to wear them to read). His eyes are a pretty extreme case, I'm sure she'll be fine!
I'm glad she only has to do the drops for a week. It is hard to reason with a 5 year old, I know.
