I needed to share this with everyone. Erin Drallos -Michigan- was this family's photographer.
Cheryl,
Just wanted to thank you for sharing your story about your son and the wonderful foundation you founded. I read your story in the Canyon Courier in October and was nearly overwhelmed with emotion. My cousin Jason and his wife Mary had gotten the news about a month before I read your story that their yet to be born son had Trisomy 18. As you might be aware, this condition sometimes leads to grotesque deformities in babies and rarely do these children live more than a couple of hours. I forwarded your story from the Courier to my uncle feeling he would have a better feeling as to my cousin’s state of mind about the upcoming birth.
Anyway, their son Joseph was born in Flint, Michigan on December 26th. He weighed 3lbs 10oz and was a beautiful baby boy whose only noticeable physical deformity was a club foot and a hernia. He lived approximately 3 minutes which was just long enough for his father to baptize him. According to Jason as soon as he finished baptizing him, Joseph opened his eyes and then passed away about 30 seconds later. They had decided to use your service and a photographer (they didn’t mention her name to me unfortunately) from Clarkston Michigan. She was with them for well over 12 hours on that day not to mention the time she spent with them before the birth taking pictures of a pregnant Mary with Jason and their two daughters. At Joseph’s funeral this past Thursday, I saw some of the wonderful pictures that had been taken and according to Jason, the photographer had taken hundreds of photos of Joseph with his daughters, his parents and Mary’s, and their brothers and sisters.
They both thanked me for pointing them to your foundation, so I wanted to take a minute to thank you for sharing your story and bringing it to my attention. You provided them with a gift that will allow them to better remember their son.
Thanks again and God Bless you.
