View Full Version : How do I get the word out?

I contacted my doula/lactation consultant to let her know that I was available for this kind of work and she kindly spread the news among her doula network. I wanted to let the NICU's here in Toronto know about me and that I am available, but I am not sure whether NILMDTS has any brochures done up - I thought I'd heard a while back that there were.

What is the best way to let others know of your presence?

Heather, go to the Photographers section in Education/resources area. You'll find a thread about Brochure ordering. We have a gorgeous Brochure that Marathon Press has printed for us, and you can order from them.

Welcome Heather and Kristine... It's kind of hard to tell you where to start. The first thing I would do is get the brochures from Marathon Press. If it is still the case, you pay for shipping, and that's it, unless you want your information printed on them, then you have printing costs.
Cheryl is working on a letter that can be sent to hospital and such, but before that happened, I worked up my own letter explaining the foundation, and sent it out. I sent it out to the director of Nursing, and the perinatal and neonatal units. At this point, I probably would have sent it out to the Hospital Chaplain as well. I just sent out letters to the largest OB groups in town this week to let them know.
Sandy and Cheryl each have a good point that we are guests of the family, not of the hospital. It was recommended just taking some of the brochures up to the NICU or even the OB ward and introducing yourself when you drop the brochures off. Let them know you exist.
You can try press releases, news stories etc...
The possibilities are endless, it's just a matter of sitting down and thinking "what can I do to reach the public"
Read through all the forum, there is some great info in here.

Good Luck.
Scott

Hi-I am a parent that has had a loss. I went to the hospital chaplain to make him aware of the services. There is also a perinatal loss team that I shared the info with. Hopes this helps. Deb

Thank You, Deb. What city are you in? We may have a phjotographer in your area, and maybe we can follow up with your assistance.
I'll add a special prayer tonight for you and your family, with special emphasis for Eli, Gretchen and heavenly angel Marah.

I'm in Columbus, OH. I noticed one photographer in the vacinity on the map. I was going to call him tomorrow. I am also planning to meet with the area Rotary, but wasn't sure how to entitle the program topic without scaring everyone away.
