Payton was born on Febuary 4,2007 yes Superbowl Sunday. We picked out his name that day and it wasnt even a name we considered before but we thought suit that because he was born on the Superbowl we would give him a name to commerate it. We wanted the Colts to win and I really always have liked the name Peyton. He was born at 11 am after only 5 hours of labor. That was when his birth defect was discovered. Payton was born with gastroschesis where your intestines are exposed outside the body thru a hold in the abdomine, which wouldnt have been much of a big deal except for that at birth Payton aspirated a large amount of muconuim. He was flown to Salt Lake City to the NICU there. Let me tell you I couldnt have asked for a better place for him to be. After the winning of the Colts and Peyton Manning named MVP we thought it even cooler that his name would truly fit him. Paytons lung infection was so suver that they couldnt do anything with his intestines. Payton just had a hard get go to begin with and never really got better. At 7 days old he also develped pulminary hypertention basically the heart has a hard time pumping the oxygenated blood thru the body adiquitly. After 12 days of no improvement and stuck between a rock and a hard place the doctors came to us and said we had to make a decision. We knew we would have to let our little MVP go to be with his heavenly father. We could not see him suffer any longer. We had a photographer from NILMDTS come in and take our family pictures as this was the first time we ever got to hold him in our arms. WE video taped took pictures and cherished the last moment of his life and thanks to these photographers it was captured for us to remember and cherish each and everyday. It has been two months today since we laid him in the ground but his spirit is with us and so are the last moments in his life. What a beautiful family you've got. I absolutely love the picture of your husband holding Payton - my eyes just filled with tears. Pictures like that - there is no hiding the love between a Father and a Son.

Your children are precious!

Maddux was also named after an athlete...Baseball though, not football...:)

I just wanted wanted to say thank you to all who read this thread I also wanted to update a little. Those of you who dont know we got some pretty bad news last wensday. WE found out that Paytons birth defect did show up on his ultrasound after havign two other techs look at it and both of them finding it. It has been a hard week for us since then. We are trying to figure out what to do next. Sometimes searching for the answers you dont get the answers you were looking for. We are glad though that those answers were found. Again we do have a memorial web page for him please feel free to visit that site.
