Over the past few days Kirk and I have discussed what we plan to do for Ethan's first anniversary and it made me start to think...
Ethan's birthday isn't till June 23rd but I put this down now to reflect back when the time comes - as I probably won't as strong then as I am today.
What I want for his first ANNIVERSARY?
I want to plant butterfly bushes in our back yard
I want to release butterflies
I want one of those butterflies to make its way back to me and give me butterfly kisses
I want to release one dove from my hands
I don’t really want to plant bushes or release doves or butterflies - what I really want is…
to be asked…
What do you want to do for his first BIRTHDAY?
I want to see his face when he digs in the dirt the first time
I want to see his face when a butterfly lands on his little hand
I want butterfly kisses from my sweet baby boy
I want to see his face when he hears birds sing
I want messy fingers - cake and ice cream...I want the day to end with Mr Brown Can Moo Can You...I want coos and kisses and sweet little wishes...
Happy Birthday Ethan!

A Symbol of Love
A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam
and for a brief moment, its glory and beauty
belong to our world.
But then it flies again,
and though we wish it could have stayed...
We feel blessed to have seen it.

I just read this to Elijah, as we are eating our Pizza (Friday Night dinner).
I said, can I read you what I wrote about Ethan's upcoming birthday...it's kind of a poem (although as we all can read, I can't write poems!) Ha
He says, Do you want me to write a poem about Ethan? I said yes, he says I'll make it a cinquain poem. I said, oh ok...so who watches are you smarter than a 5th grader...I had one of those moments...although my son is in second grade...lol
So I googled cinquain just to have the correct spelling for this post and also to read the definition...Mercy Sakes - I'm terrible.

Not, fair, Linda. You didn't tell us other Non 5th graders what a cinquain poem is.

I know, and in five minutes like it was nothing...I simply told him I need a Noun or I need two words that match that are adjectives...
Starting at Diamond (the definition) that is all cut and paste from the web...
Elijah is a very wonderful son and such a blessing to me. He really helps me with my loss as a Mother. I also love that he has made his own connection with Ethan.

Linda,
That is great about the poems you guys have chosen to write in memory of Ethan. They are beautiful. I hope that someday my boys will be able to do something similar for there baby sister Emma in Heaven. Thinking of you with Ethan's 1st B-Day approaching.

Linda you wrote and we all felt it. What we want we wont get....I want just one more time to hold and see payton. I would have given anything to just hear him cry and open his eyes but he never did and I never will. My heart goes out to you and thank you for lighting a candle for payton I am just assuming that was you...Thank you Lyssa

Linda,
Just read yours...Sometimes I get lost through here. It was so nice meeting you this weekend. You are truly an inspiration.
Again, your words are exactly what we all want.
Thank you for sharing...
I am going to try my own Cinquain...
Can you tell my mood today???
Forgotten
buried, erased
hurting, suffering, grieving
Shame on you...

It was nice to meet you too (and everyone else). I am really looking forward to June. Do you think it's a combination of this past full weekend and then the next weekend being Mother's Day? I know that it stired up emotions for me. Hang in there!
I love the cinquain! Very powerful and ever so painfully true!

I want my sweet Baby Boy here running around me pulling on my leg to get off the computer, I want dirty diapers and middle of the night calls to his side, I want to hold and love him and watch him grow. I want....................
