Hello.
For the past few months, I have been working with a lady from Poland, Justyna Furgal who is a member of PAMA; Parents After Miscarraige Association, (the ONLY support group for parents who lose a child in Poland) in starting something like NILMDTS there. I received an email from another lady, Monika Nagorko, (which I will post below) requesting permission to use images from our website in a presentation they are having this weekend.
Parents, if you are willing to share your baby's images for this purpose, I would like to ask if you could please send your high res copies to the following email address: poczta@poronienie.pl (poczta@poronienie.pl)
Please indicate you are a member of NILMDTS, and give your permission for PAMA to use the images of your precious baby. They are looking for about 25 to 30 images, so if you could please help, it would be appreciated more than you know. I believe ALL of our beloved babies have a purpose; this is it. Helping moms and dads all over the world.
Here is the email I received from Monika:
Dear Tammy,
I have got your e-mail adress from Mrs. Justyna Furgal.
My name is Monika Nagorko and I lost two babies in the early pregnancies in 2004
year. Staying in the hospital was the worst experience in my life. I lost my
beloved child and everyone from the hospital treated this fact like something
unimportant. I was only a woman which had to have D&C but not the mom which lost
baby. After my second miscarriage I wrote a post in the web and started to look
for other women which had similar experiences in hospitals. In 2004 year there
was not any organization which helps parents after the death of child in Poland.
We triggered the web page poronienie.pl. "Poronienie" in Polisch means
"miscarriage". There are more than 250 articles about this subject now. We found
the hospital which was interested in helping us. They invited us to hospital and
we gave the speech about ways of treating parents after the loss in hospitals.
It was the beginning. In June 2006 we registered our "Parents After Miscarriage
Association".
A few months ago we found web page which is provieded by NILMDTS and beautiful
pictures of your children. Mrs. Justyna wrote to you about our organization and
she has got e-mail from you with pictures and encouragement to co-operation.
We put your pictures in our web page (www.poronienie.pl/po_ludzku_zdjecia.html (http://www.poronienie.pl/po_ludzku_zdjecia.html))
with the small article about this idea and our efforts in our contry. We found a
few photographers which wanted to join to this project and we found the
hospital, which wanted to cooperate whith our association. The May 26th is
Mother's Day in Poland and we sent to newspapers information about how beautiful
could be farewell with child which died. I am still impressed that the siblings
can take part in photography session. When I had my first miscarriage I had
older son and it was tragedy for him too. He was small, but he was a part of our
family and ha had right to share our grief.
It is tragedy what can happen in our (in Poland) hospitals. In the beginning of
this year we have got a mail from woman and she wrote that the doctors showed
her dead child in the bucket. It was 19th week of pregnancy. It is very, very
sad. I know that there is the long journey ahead but I hope that we really could
change our hospitals.
I would like to write you about the other thing.
This weekend in Warsaw (capital city of Poland) will be IV Congress of Families
2007 (http://www.worldcongress.pl/index.php (http://www.worldcongress.pl/index.php)). It is great opportunity to show
that the parents after loss exist and that we belong to the society. You know
how many problems can reveal after the loss in family. I am sure that you know
how many people do not want to talk about the death of child, how difficult is
finding someone who understands our feelings, our pain, and how important is
getting information about places and people who can help.
During the Congress there will be exhibition of family organizations
(http://www.worldcongress.pl/stoiska.php (http://www.worldcongress.pl/stoiska.php)). We will have our own exhibit too. We
prepared our leaflets and brochures, commemorate wrist bands, a book about
miscarriage etc. We prepared too a few presentations in PowerPoint about our
aims, what we are doing, and about taking the pictures in hospitals.
Mrs Justyna Furgal got 5 your pictures, but this number of pictures is too small
for the presentation. We really need your help and we would like to ask you
about permission for using the pictures from your web page. We need about 25
pictures. We made the presentation which is similar to your movie on the main
page (www.nilmdts.com (http://www.nilmdts.com/)).
A lot of people from numerous countries will take part in this congress. This is
great opportunity to show the mission of NILMDTS.
We will be very thankful for writing us "YES" for our request. I hope that we
will can fill your conditions and we will can show your beautiful pictures.
I have got your e-mail and your phone number from Mrs Justyna Furgal.
Fortunately now I am living in USA, in Greensboro, NC (I will come back to
Poland next week) and I will try to call you tomorrow. May I?
I am worrying about my speaking English - it is not my first language, but we
are intent on showing the idea of the pictures.
Sincerely,
Monika Nagorko
