I had been so excited for one of my long time best friends.

We were inseparable through high school, split for college, and reunited earlier this year, and realized we were both pregnant with due dates 10 days apart. Hers on the 20th, mine on the 30th. Her daughter Kiera Faith, mine Cara Grace.

I had been trying to call her and her husband for the last week or two because I wanted to come see them and see how it was all going. No one answered or returned the call. Today, I got an email from her saying that her daughter was born on Saturday at 39 weeks, but had some medical problems, and died almost immediately.

I've been talking to her on Yahoo IM tonight, and one of the things I just asked her was if she took any pictures. She said no because she didn't have a camera, and they asked the hospital, but they wouldn't do it either. I was like OMG why not.

She said they are going to have a funeral for their daughter sometime this coming week. I want to connect her with a photographer in the Houston area. Despite knowing mine, knowing yall, and being around here, I don't really know how that process works. Can someone help direct me?

My heart goes out to you and your friend, I'm so at a loss for words. Are there any NILMDTS photographers in her area? You can search the www.nowilaymedowntosleep.org website to see if there are any close by that can assist her. Hope this helps

Melanie,

Please send them my "Helping Bereaved Parents" document in this resources section or from this link: http://www.galdiano.net/documents/HelpingBereavedParents.pdf

You may find some useful information in there as well.

Contact Danny and Denise Clark immediately. They are the Coordinators for the Houston area, and they'll be able to get things rolling. Danny@NILMDTS.org or Denise@NILMDTS.org

Melanie,
Can you update us about your friend? How is she doing? Did she find a photographer to take images at the funeral home?
