I thought about baking a cake. Letting the children do decorations...
Then I thought, when will I get the time. Cheerleading all day on Sunday, and then Cheer again tonight...
I went to my local small town Albertsons on Saturday. I know most of the people in there, and they know me. I went to the bakery. Anna, Nat and I started looking at cakes. We all had an idea of what we wanted. Anna wanted Clouds, Natalie wanted Pooh, and I wanted something blue and boyish. A lady (that I didn't know) saw us and heard us talking and came up to us. Asked if she could help us. We said we were looking for a birthday cake. We started telling her about what we wanted, she said she could do anything. I thought, "oh really...' I then gave her the 'spin' of our situation. Told her it was for a 3rd birthday in Heaven. Natalie started jabbering about all his friends in Heaven. No candles Anna said, because he couldn't blow them out. She looked at me. Not funny. And you know what she said? "I know." "I know who you are, I know your son. I have been to your website. It is beautiful."
The tears just fell. She said, 'let me think about this tonight, and I will come up with something you will be happy with.'
And that was it. Done. No thinking, no stressing. Remember my horrid story about the birth announcements? Somebody finally thought out of their box...WOW!
So, a big thank you to Angie (I think people named Angie are my angels) ((The nurse with us the night Maddux died was also named Angie)) in the Albertsons Bakery in Evergreen Colorado. When I picked up the cake today, there was also a beautiful card in it from everybody at Albertsons.
Here are some images:
Three balloons instead of candles...
A pooh bear, and ALL of his friends.
Clouds, and blue. What more could a little boy ask for?
