Does anyone know how many c-sections a woman can have? I have had 3 and I can obviously have one more or my Doc would have made me get my tubes tied. I want several more kids but afraid I can't have that many. I had only wanted 4 I have 3 but one is an Angel baby but I still want 4 living children. The doc said my uterin wall was thin when they c-sectioned MArcus. But I don't know if its only because he was such a big baby that he stretched it to the max or just 2 many c-sections.

This is a question only your doctor can answer. Have you asked what your chances are for carrying another child? Each woman is different. I have a friend that has only had one c section, and her doctor advised her not to get pregnant again, because of the risk.

Usually the rule of thumb is 3 but there have been people who have had 4 or more. Your uterus wasn't just thin from the one large baby, each one can cause it to stretch to a certain point. When it gets too thin the MD will see a "window" then they first open you, that means they can see the baby right through the uterus. This is not a great sign, there is a potential for uterine rupture which means a big threat to both mother and baby if this happens. If they were to give you the go ahead for another baby they would have to monitor for that potential complication. ie; watching the size and position of the baby. I assume they would do that anyway given your current history. So have a long talk with a Dr. who you trust has good judgement then decide together. Only the person who did your last c/s knows really how thin your uterus is and the potential for rupture. If they say no, I personally would take that as law. I have seen too many major complications from uterine rupture and your children need you alive and healthy. Good luck with whatever you decide and God Bless.....

Well he is all for me having another baby because I have no complications besides my first child. He wants me to have twins!LOL! He's funny he never brought up me tying my tubes it was the nurses that asked. See I thought you can only have 3 or 4. My mom had 3 and my sister n laws mom had 4. My cut is up and down also not bikini which sucks.

I am really surprised at your MD. If your cut is really "classic incision" then that is much more troublesome than a bikini cut. Maybe though only the outside incision was classic and the inside is bikini? Again..only your MD knows......

I've had 3 c sections and my doctor said he is comfortable with me having 1 more if we decide to have another child. He did say that I heal very well and didn't have too much scar tissue or weakening on either the internal and external incisions. All 3 were horizontal (bikini) cuts inside and out. Vertical cuts are different though. I would talk to your doctor and ask about your risks etc.
Good Luck with your decision

I'm not sure if the inside cut is bikini or not. He said I healed really fast also. I was bending over in the hospital with the up and down cut . Carefully bending over but bending over. I think someone mentioned the inside being bikini cut but I never thought to ask him. I am pretty sure he won't let me have 5 of them. Thanks for the help. The last one was the hardest because I asked to go home after a day in the hospital and he let me because I was up moving good and he didn't wanna make me stay there without my son. He knows me very well he was there when my mom delivered me helping her doctor. I just had to promise to take it easy but with thanksgiving the next day and the funeral the day after that I couldn't do much resting but I never busted a staple though.

i have had 2 natural births and 3 c-sections and my ob has said one more would be ok. that's just me, though. i agree with cheryl that only your dr. truly knows your situation.
