I think I am going to start croheting baby booties for the hospital here so the mothers can have even just one more memory of their baby. I was just wondering if this is a good idea. No I don't like the hospital but its the mothers I care for and I want to help them any way I can. It would help my sons memory live on because I would do it in my sons memory.

That's a wonderful idea. Any item that can be kept as a memory will surly be cherished. What a great way to honor your son.

I think its a great idea! I know they made me booties and a hat. And even a small quilt blanket which fit her perfectly in the memory box they made for me. I would like to help my hospital also but I am not gifted in sewing but maybe painting a memory box. I need to call and get started where I can help. Always just starts with a phone call. I think it will make you feel good about what you can do for others.

That is wonderful. If you need patterns here is a link to one site I also belong to (I started making the tiny gowns). http://heavenlyangelsinneed.com/Patterns.html
Be sure to post a pic of the cute booties when you get them done.

Thats a wonderful idea, i did volunteer as coordinator for my area but im also trying to find some little way to do something in our daughters memory for the families as well....i can crochet but unfortunately i have had carpal tunnel surgery and my hands tire very easy(and im not very good at it lol) the hospitals here already provide some things so its just finding place to help...good luck with your booties would love to see a pic when your finished!

My mom had the same surgery yo did and she hate it because she crochets all the time. She used to make baby blankets for the sheter of love which is a place that help mothers get things for their babies that don't have the money to buy much things. They would give out mommy dollars and the mothers can buy them after going to a class or reading a book. I would like to be a parent corrdinator but thier is only one photographer here that does it for our hospital I do believe. My hospital gave us a pj gown and crocheted blanket when Marcus died. They also went and purchased a trinket box with a little boy praying on it which I love. But I think they need more. Every little memory I think would help. I wish there was a way to have a camera in there so the nurses could take pictures of the babies after they start going down hill so parents can have pictures of their babies while they were alive also if they didn't have any takin.

Most NICU and PICU do have digital cameras available, our nurses did take some photos of Kaydence for us and made us some keepsakes(the night nurses when we were resting in the lobby)....if you could do something to raise money to purchase one that would be a great gift to the unit if your hospital doesnt have one!..........in our memory box from the hospital they gave us a disposable camera as well, unfortunately those pictures came out horrible but i treasure them because they are they only ones i have of my and my husbands family holding her..

Well we are always needing help and since this is what our organization does I am hoping Cheryl don't mind. If you join us we can join forces and help your hospital and you can help us reach other hospitals all in memory of your baby.
One beautiful thing our charity offers is burial garments to the photographers here @ NILMDTS this is very rewarding and your items can also be sent to photographers in some special way in giving back.
NILMDTS is my number 1 favorite organization in the World. Its after my own heart.
Bless you, Mary
