 Does anyone have any idea how I can get things going to get people to donate disposable cameras and/ or to help me make crocheted booties and hats and blankets for the hospitals around here? I know some of you go to the same hospitals that I live pretty close to. I am wanting to help our hospital out because I didn't get most of these things and really would have liked to. It would kinda be like a sympathy package for the families to have even more memories. Someone on here had metioned to me they had a disposable camera givin to them from the hospital which would be awesome. My hospital isn't that big and I guess people just don't think about things like that I didn't until I lost Marcus. I am just trying to help families around here that might not have much money or think about having thier own camera there.

At our hospital volunteers make them and give them to the hospital. They made tiny gowns and hats. I'll have to take a pic and send it, the hat is mad from a little girls anklet sock. It is really stretchy and cute too. Maybe you could contact some local churches and they could donate.

I think you could work with HAIN on this. You could ask them for some infomation you could present to area churches, girl scout and 4H groups (I just contacted my local girl scouts and 4H and they are going to see if they can do this as a project for HAIN), take the info to a local fabric or craft store would also be a good place as most that shop there make some type of crafts.
I know you are wanting to do something in Marcus' memory. Even if you make one pair of booties you will be helping someone heal. I did the same after my angel. I was fortunate when I approached my church and let them know there are so many little angels and families that needed help healing. The ladies made baby blankets, hats, booties, gowns and a few scrapbooks to donate to my hospital in memory of my angel. After that I have been picking up things on sale when I can and take them to the hospital to donate on her birthday. I like to stop by the nursery and see who shares her birthday every year.

I made a pair of sneaker booties they are so cute. I was wanting to try to get wedding dresses for HAin also because of what they do with them. They are easy and cheap here at the salvation army where I live. Do you know what other kind of dresses they can use. I also made a premie bootie and it is so tiny i wanted to cry. I am just wondering what the different sizes range in baby feet from the smallest to the biggest so I can make ones the baby can wear right then.

Shawnna, you might think about contacting your local town paper to see if they would be willing to write an article. I also thought about contacting the assisted living center that my grandma live at. Whenever I visit, I always see the cute little old ladies knitting.

Shawnna, also try Woman's groups, Senior Senior Centers and PT rehab centers. Prom dresses can also be used for gowns, and everyone (except Kirk)( Kirk, I one step ahead of you this time! LOL) has at least one hanging in their closet. Hope this helps.

We would love to have you with us, we got patterns, size charts, and more information on making items on our craft forum http://messages.heavenlyangelsinneed.com
Far as gowns we use all different types and colors. We have a post on here called burial gowns and photographers in the general discussions board. Our link for our wedding gown site is there.

If you have any questions just let me know :o

Do I have to register to see the craft forum? I clicked on the link and it said I didn't have permission to access the page.

I'm sure you will need to register for that forum. It is not a part of this one.

Shawnna,
Yes you have to register with HAIN. It took a couple weeks for my approval to come through. I think you can still get the patterns without becoming a member if you want to start on them right away. I will double check for you.

Shawnna, Yes we ask members to register because we have very sensative information. (i.e. addresses, emails and personal requests) there are some patterns on our website if you are interested.

Christine, You probably registered when we were having forum issues or if I was away like during this move. Usually I accept the requests with in the same day now :)

And Kirk is right this craft forum is through another charity (HAIN- Heavenly Angels in Need), however NILMDTS is one of our favorite charities and we reach out to bereaved families by sending items to photographers to give to families during this time.

Also me inviting is never take members or to take away from NILMDTS. We would never want to or do this as an organization. You can send all your items you make to NILMDTS photographers and that is it, would be perfectly great with us.
