Unraveling some of the Forum Mysteries!

I'm going to list a few instructions on How To do certain tasks here in this forum. Such as how to post an image, how to put your photo under your name, how to place these little :p items in your message:cool: (this one's easy, simply post your reply with the Advanced button and click on the smilies where you want it placed), how to send me snickerdoodles:o (well, not really:rolleyes: ), and how to do other tasks as I think of them, or, as you ask me how to do whatever.

How to post Images:

1. If you are starting a new thread then the items you need will be available to you, however, if you are replying to an existing thread then you will need to click on the 'Go Advanced' button located under the Quick Reply box.
Okay, now simply type in your message as you wish for it to appear, when finished, scroll down the screen until you find the 'Manage Attachments" button (See image A). Click on that, this will open a new window (See image B).
Now, simply click on the Browse button (1) and this will take you to your computer hard drive (See image C). Locate the file you wish to display (#4), click on that and then click 'Open' (#5). Now, if you have more than one image that you want to display, simply repeat this process, you can display up to five images. Once you are through with selecting your images, now click on the button labeled 'Upload' (Image B, Arrow 2). Wait a few minutes until you see all the images listed (Image D, arrow 6). Now, simply click the Close window button(Arrow 3).
You are now back at the main window containing your message. all that is left to do now is to click the 'Submit Reply' button, do not click the 'Preview Post' button, however, as your images will not appear in the preview. That's it. You have succeeded.
Now, word of caution. You need to prepare your images ahead of time to be no larger than about 4"x5" at 75DPI, and save them as a jpeg file set at about medium quality. You want that overall file size to be under 80K.

Here's another one. How to place your photo under your name.
This is called an 'Avatar'. First go into photoshop, open the image you wish to use. Now, go to Image/image size. Now, be sure the little box next to resample is checked. Now, simply type in 150x150 in the pixel dimension box (or as close to this without going over on either dimension). Set the resolution to 75DPI. Now, save this as a low jpeg-your goal is to get the file size below 19.5K.
Okay, now, come to the forum, and click on 'UserCP' from the menu bar at the top of the screen. Go to Edit Avatar from the menu choices on the side of the screen. Click on the Browse button and locate your file on your hard drive. Click open, then click Submit changes. That's it. Now we all know what you look like. (Scary. huhh?)
For your profile photo, do the same as above, except when you go to the User CP on the forum, simply click on 'profile photo'.
If you do not have access to Photoshop, or an image editing program, just ask for help and someone here will be glad to size your image for you.

Mine when I posted new thread shows error. I know my file is not to big keeps saying failed. Any other ideas to help me.

I am not sure if this is going in the right place or not, new to this.....How do you get the little box at the end of a post that says various things looking like a business card....ie " __weeks _days since our angel grew wings...." I couldn't find out how to put it in to use it. I have created the snugglepie icon, however have all these codes but don't know where to put them! so I am going to try to add it here by clicking on the picture icon...but if this does work, do you have to do this each time? Lost in the computer chat room how too's! Karen Lynn

Karen, go into the user cp and edit signature....paste the code for your counter there :)

It is quite simple. If you wish to share your story, go to the "My Story' room and click on the 'New Thread' button. Then simply title your message, and type in the story.

What am I doing wrong? I can't get my memorial ticker to post correctly in my signature. It says file failed or invalid file. Help?

Help! I see that some people have posted 2 memorial tickers in their signature. I want to do that. The writing in my current signature is too small to read. I have no problems if I want to post only 1 ticker, but every time I put in 2, I get an error message telling me that I have too many characters. Can anyone help?

I have been trying to post my ticker under like all u had, but its not letting me..how can I do this...

I chose my ticker from Lilypie. After I've created the ticker, I click on get ticker code. Next, I choose under "for websites" the image URL choice. Copy the code and paste it into your signature (that's where mine is). It doesn't update automatically. I haven't figured that one out yet. Anyway, paste the url into the place where it tells you to and then click "upload". Finally, you'll click on the button that says add to signature (or something like that) and a bunch of letters will appear in brackets. Then save your signature when it is the way you like. I hope this works.
