I've hired a woman to do a reborn baby of calypso. It will be her height and weight at birth. She does it off of pictures and my memories. Here are the work in progress of it so far

I've been called quite a few names from people finding out about this doll but to me it will be like a 3D picture where I'll be able to see her whole face without tubes and wires, and I'll be able to put Calypso's clothing onto it and have them on display that way

WOW! how beautiful. I have been called a few names as well but you know what? I dont really care. People that have not gone thru what we have, have no idea, so they have no right judging. I think it is beautiful!
Do you mind me asking how much something like this costs? If not, I understand.

I collect mini OOAK baby dolls which are dolls that are between 4-8" and made out of polymer clay. I googled 'Custom OOAK' and picked which lady I liked best. There is a woman who does mini ones for free

she did a mini of calypso too

Wow. I'll have to think about this. I don't know if it would be too much of a temptation to "replace" my sweetheart with the doll. But I would love to be able to see her whole again. I love the mini...Can't wait to see the finished doll!

Are you having the same person that does the miniatures do the full size, or did you find someone else to do that?

Melissa hey I know you :) Well I think having a doll done is just great. Little Mariah was created from clay and we love having our doll. It allows me to kinda show what size she was to others. I have several dolls that were donated to use as models when I have craft fairs to show our charity work and to show the sizes for babies of things we make. I think your doll is looking beautiful!

Melissa,
I didn't even know this was possible! How wonderful to have a 3D reminder of what your baby looked like!

I'm guessing the people who called you names are in the same ilk as those who think it's weird to hold babies after they pass away. Hm. We have a "shrine" to Timothy in our living room, and it includes casts of his feet and hands. Why? Because we wanted to remember what they were like! They certainly don't replace Timothy's actual hands and feet, and I'm sure that's not your intention with your Calypso doll either.

I'd like to see it when it's finished, too.

Amanda- We also have a 'shrine' i'd love to see pictures of yours sometime if you don't mind sharing? I love seeing what others do and collect for their babies
