Dear Ethan (aka Peanut),

At our angel play date a few weeks ago Cheryl made us penny banks and painted them with our child's name on one side and on the other side it said, "Pennies from Heaven." Now peanut to be honest I don't know that I have ever picked up a penny in my life but after that night I vowed to pick up every penny I came across for the rest of my life. I wouldn't want to miss out on your special hello for that day. She also included this poem and I love it:

Today I found a penny
Lying on the ground
It's not just any penny
This little coin I've found.

Found pennies come from heaven,
that's what my Grandma told me.
She said that Angels toss them down.
Oh, how I love that story.

She said when an Angel misses you,
they toss a penny down:
Sometimes just to cheer you up,
to make a smile out of a your frown.

So, don't pass by that penny
when you're feeling blue.
It might just be a penny
that your Angel's tossed to you.

So to finish my story peanut! I haven't seen a penny since that night and it's not because I wasn't looking. :) But today was a big day at the hospital for your little brother Mason. The doctor wanted to measure him and make sure he was growing real good! Well the visit went very well and in fact he's 37 weeks now and is already 6lbs 5oz. When I was leaving I was thanking God for the gifts he's given me and that included you. I thanked Him for the peace He gave me during that appointment and as I was turning to get onto the elevator there was the shiniest penny right at my feet. I smiled so big and picked it up and put it in my pocket. Now I'm putting it in my penny bank.

Thanks peanut for the sweet hello and to let me know you were there with me all along. I love you, I miss you and I will long for the day I spend eternity with you!

Love,
Mommy

Linda, you are just plain awesome . . .

I always pick up pennies but not for that reason. My reason is because a long time ago a very, very wealthy man that was a friend of our family was walking with me one early morning and bent over and picked up a penny. He said, "There, I've already made some money today" . . . and I liked that philosophy . . . BUT
I really, really like your reason for picking up a penny much, much better . . .
I am so glad you shared this letter to Ethan . . . his mommy is AWESOME . . .

Linda, Thank you for sharing your letter. I really believe that our angels show us their continuing presence in our lives, and I love that Ethan sent you a penny to let you know he was there with you and for you. How touching and amazing.

Linda,
I've read that poem before--someone sent it to my Mom. She has been grieving very deeply for Amanda and still has been unable to let go of her anger. She's not been able to go to the cemetary yet either. She just loves her so much and her heart is broken. Shortly after Amanda passed, my Mom received the poem. A few days later, she found a penny and called me right away. She was so excited and felt a moment of peace thru connecting with Amanda.
Thank you for sharing your story and of reminding me of that sweet moment between my Mom and my child.

Awww..Kristen, you need to make her a penny bank, you could put Grandma on one side and Pennies from Heaven on the other....

That's a great idea. She would love that. I'd love to see a picture of your bank.

Thank you for sharing I had never heard that before. Now if I walk outside in a few minutes and find a penny it will freak me out and I will have to tell you about it.
