I received a call from an old high school friend who is now the assignment editor of Fox13. He really really wanted to do a story about NILMDTS but 'if you don't want to, i won't hold it against you and i understand'. ARE YOU KIDDING?!
I told him for THREE years I've been sending out press releases and trying to get SOMEONE to listen to me.....well...they did. Katy (reporter) did a beautiful job.

http://www.myfoxutah.com/myfox/

It's a two part segment called "Sacred Moments" They featured a family that I did almost a year ago. The mom is a childhood friend of mine. They also featured a family from last December and then one that lost their little Weston on this past Sunday.

It was ironic that after the story aired, Tara called (my friend), then my mom & dad, and then the hospital to say they had a mom in labor and could I come?

I've not had a chance to watch this, yet. But, do you think you can get a disk, or tape of this so we can archive it?
By the way, Congratulations!!!!!!!

Just watched it Julie....it was AWESOME! Hey I was wondering though, what is that first piano song? Is that one of ours? I LOVE it!

Absolutely Kirk! A couple of the families they showed images of are out of state and I have requested a copy for them as well. I will try and get it by the time I go to the training. They said they are leaving it on their site indefinitely as well.

Thank you.....now I'm sitting here with tears streaming down my face. Thank you everyone....parents AND volunteers for all you do to make this possible.

You can also read Katy's blog. I didn't even know they did those. Katy was VERY touched and said after 9 years of reporting, she'd never cried ONCE during a piece. While we were in the hospital, she and the photojournalist were bawling.....very touched. The news editor called me the next day to say how moved he was and how powerful this story would be.

Courtney, that is one the station used. I'm sure I could find out if needed.

You did an amazing job representing this great organization!

I couldn't help but cry, though, when you mentioned to "dad" to go give "mom" a hug in the second part... such a bittersweet moment.

Wow!!! That was great. We have been working on trying to get local stations to pick up a story here in Cincinnati. Maybe this can help to move them to do a story themselves. Thank you so much for posting. Beautiful job!!!

Jewels,

You strength, dedication, compassion, and sacrifices are such an inspiration to all of us. Thank you for providing these services to so many families and working so hard to spread NILMDTS throughout the area. You have given so much of yourself to this work... I know it's been a tremendous sacrifice and Utah is so blessed to have you. You are such a great example to all of us.

Excellent story! The tears streamed down my face for these families and for you and all that you do. I am so honored to call you my friend. :)

Julie!

I just turned the TV on for my kiddo's and saw the piece! I had to tivo it so I could get the second part. I immediately went to the local fox website to try to find the whole segment, since I missed the first part. While I was searching for it, I came across the link for the Utah NILMDTS Chapter. It's such a beautiful site, but couldn't help noticing that it needs to be updated. Hopefully, this news segment will get a lot of interest from the community, and it's probably important that the list of photographers listed is accurate.

Also, Julie, if you see this, could you please send me some brochures? I was told our Utah County hospitals aren't using our services. I love being able to help out in SLC when needed, but I know that the hospital 2 minutes from my home could REALLY use our services. There's another one 8 minutes, and I'd love to be able to serve those hospitals. I'd be more than happy to try to meet with them, but have tried and tried, to no avail, to get an AC to send me information and/or brochures. I did my first session in March, another one in April, and still haven't really been contacted by an AC yet (I've tried, believe me!), except for when they're looking for someone to do a session.

If you could help, that would be great, since you are one of my AC's. Like I said, I love being able to help wherever I can, but making the one-way 45 minute drive can be a little tough, with my schedule and family. I know I could help the hospitals so close to me (UVRMC & Timpanogas especially!).

Again, way to go on the Fox segment! You looked great, and it was a very powerful thing to watch.

Yay!!!

Just FYI...the SECOND song was Smallest & Wingless...but the first one was just piano and unknown to me.

Thank you everyone. Thanks Julie...I updated it last night before the piece aired. Try clearing your cookies and you should see YOU! :)

LOL, you better get working on recruiting, because I bet Utah County is going to be really receptive after this and you're going to need all the help you can get! :)

Julie,

You are the angel!! I just watched the video. I am crying my eyes out because you can see the pain this couple is going through right now. But then I smiled because you gave a gift of a life time for this family. You are awesome!! Now I need to find cucumbers or something to put on my eyes so I can shower and get ready for work. Night shift is going to be a long one tonight :)
