Hello,
Not sure if you know about this. If anyone knows the Christian music artist Steven Curtis Chapman, his 5 year old daughter was killed yesterday.

He sings a beautiful song called "With Hope"
Not sure if anyone uses this song with their slideshows, but the song is amazingly appropriate for anyone who has had a loved one pass away.
Obviously they will need prayer too...

Donna,
What a tragic event to happen. I'm so deeply saddened for his family.
As to using the song for a slideshow, unfortunately, unless we have a written release of copyright for NILMDTS use we can't use it in a slideshow. If anyone knows an avenue on how to get a copyright release from him I'm sure we'd be happy to use it.
Prayers being sent up for their family.

This is a copyright release organization for churches. It is www.ccli.com Maybe this could lead to something in getting us access for the music.
Our church pays a yearly fee so we can access to lyrics and so forth. Not sure about all this legal stuff, but it would be nice to be able to use music and not worry about copyright. It isn't like we are selling the songs, they are going to individual families.
Don't worry, I have only used Smallest and Wingless..

Donna,
That license only covers the churches to COPY the music but not to use the music as they wish :
The federal copyright law requires you to first get permission from the song owner before you can copy any song words or music. The CCLI license allows you to make copies from over 200,000 songs including today’s most popular worship songs.
By copy we mean – any duplication of song words or music…such as printing the lyrics in the bulletin or on song sheets, storing lyrics in a computer so you can project them on a screen, photocopying from a hymnal, or recording music during your service. When recording your worship service, this also includes recording the choir, specials and offertories.
The license also covers the making of customized arrangements for congregational use when no published version is available.
Songs are to be copied for the purpose of assisting in congregational worship. It’s important to understand that the license does not cover photocopies of choir music or arrangement music. You also can not share or distribute copies with other churches or ministries; this license is intended for your own church needs.
For more information regarding the Church Copyright License please refer to the License manual located on our License Holder Support Center.
And this license is only for churches that pay a fee to access the 200,000 lyrics.
Anyone that wants to use a song has to get permission from the songwriter. Even tho we are "gifting" these slideshows to the parents, we are professional photogs and cannot use music on our slideshows, any slideshow, whether for NILMDTS or other projects, that we do not have permission to use . . . it's a bummer but no way around it but to try to contact the folks that own the rights and get permission . . .

My prayers are with him and his family. I believe he would give permission for his song to be used.
