I turned the corner of a hospital room to find my childhood friend holding her sweet angel. I was sick to my stomach. Since that day, I watched them wrap their precious angel in her blanket for the last time and lay her tenderly in her place of rest. I watched the family as they watched her slideshow for the first time. I watched them go through many stages of healing. I attended the funeral and watched that sweet healing take place as they positioned her portrait on the wall next to her siblings.
Well....tomorrow her little brother is coming into this world. I'm a wreck. I can't even imagine what the family is going through. He is a month early and they are taking him now as he is ready (lungs are mature and head measures 40.1 weeks) and they are taking every precaution possible. Mom has gone through hellacious treatments to prevent what happened to his big sister from happening to him and I'm so proud of Mom for all she's gone through.
Please keep Kylie's mommy & daddy in your prayers tonight and tomorrow as they welcome her sweet baby brother into this world.
I was talking to the dad and he is so scared...but he was telling me that he wished his son could tell him all about his big sister. I told them they're probably up in heaven playing marbles or something saying, "Okay ONE more game and then I NEED to go". I can't WAIT to meet him.....
Thank you.......I will let you know as soon as I do!

I am seriously sitting here with BUTTERFLIES in my stomach! I can't even imagine!
When I know an angel baby is coming during the night, I can't sleep. I have a feeling tonight will be even worse!
Thanks Tasha!

I was just at the hospital for another family (photog that was set up had a very sick child anyway so all is good) and so I checked up on her.
She's dilated to a 4 and 80% and they broke her water and started the pitocin. I have a feeling it will go quickly now. This is baby #5 for them. They told me the left their camera home and I offered to do images of the birth and they were excited and I'm honored. I am all sorts of giddy for them.....and I can't even tell you the feeling I had in my heart hearing that little 'thump thump thump' on the monitors!
Mom said she prayed that he was active and let them know he was fine.....he is going CRAZY. lol

Oh girly you just gave me goose bumbs when I read you say "how your heart felt" hearing the thump thump...there are no words that describe that feeling but you just typed it! I will be and am right now praying for them. I hope she'll let you upload a picture or two of their sweet new baby.
All my thoughts and prayers...

Baby Kaden is here but needs your prayers. He's beautiful!!!!!!! 8 pounds 5 ounces and 21 inches long....he's FOUR weeks early!!!
They are not quite sure what is going on but he is WAY low on platelets when born and they are worried he might have the same thing his sister had (liver problems...too many iron deposits in the organs). They have him in the NICU and are testing his blood and giving him platelets. The first round of bloodwork COULD have been a clot in the blood so they have done them all again and we'll see in the morning what they have found. If it's still iffy, they will transport him to the children's hospital, if not, they will keep testing him here to see what's going on.
Looking at him, you'd never know anything was wrong! His heart and breathing is perfect. I told his mom, if they hadn't taken him early and needed to do the tests they did (to make sure he was okay from mom's infusions during pregnancy) that they might not have even caught all this. What a miracle everything is happening in the time it needed too.........
Please keep them in your prayers. As you can imagine, mom & dad AND siblings aren't doing so well with all this news.

Thanks Julie for keeping us updated on this little man . . . I am sure that his arrival is a BIG BIG JOY for this family and holy moly 8 POUNDS and 4 weeks early! She was headed towards a big ole boy in another 4 weeks!!!!
It sounds like they are really keeping a handle on this situation and will be ready to treat him if his labs come back iffy . . .
You are a wonderful friend!!!!
I'll be watching for updates and saying a prayer for the whole gang . . .

I'm so glad Kaden made it into the world alright, and will certainly be praying that they can successfully treat what is going on with him. What a terrifying experience for the family, though! Keep us updated...

Okay I had a mini heart attack this morning. I got a call from this hospital...thinking it was mom updating me. "This is Jodi from the NICU......" My heart was RACING! I don't know why looking back because THEY would have called....not the nurse but I was still so scared!
There was a little guy just across the pod from Kayden (actual spelling now i know) that was being removed from support. I peeked in on Kayden (of course!) and he's doing SO well! All but one of his tests came back really really good. The one they are worried about is the same thing that took his big sister a year ago. So still a bit scary but they're waiting for those results to see if they have to transport.
I told mom that you were all praying for them and she thought that was the sweetest thing.....thank you!

Wow that would be a scare. I am glad he is doing good. Hopefully with all our prayers God will let this baby stay here where he belongs and he will continue to get better. I am still praying. What a big baby! My Marcus was 8lbs 13ozs and 21 in long and was only 1 week early!!!

I am PRAYING today. They had to send it to OREGON (Tasha!) I laughed and told the dad I could have driven it faster and he chuckled and said, "I could have FLOWN it faster". He works for a major airline. LOL
All his platelet work is looking so good and he's coming way up on his own.
He is so beautiful...just LOOK!

Okay...just got THE call. He's doing GREAT! His numbers that were questionable were totally normal! They are going to run the series of tests one more time just to make sure the numbers aren't out of whack at all since birth but no MRI, no biopsy of his salivary gland...nada!
They are going to keep him a couple more days just to make sure. Tara (mom) should be released tonight. HER platelets were VERY low as well and still dropping so they wanted to make sure her counts were coming up before releasing her as well.
Oh my heart is just SINGING for them! I can't WAIT for them to have that sweet prince home and enjoy every last minute of him. Thank you all for your prayers!

They ARE going to transport him to the children's hospital in the morning. They want him where they do these tests and where they have the specialists to watch him. Mom and dad still sounded very positive and that makes my heart happy.
I'll keep you posted.

Kayden is HOME!!!!!!!!!!!! They are still waiting on one more test to come back but his platelets and everything else look completely normal. They will have to go in to the pediatrician this week for checks and hopefully the results will be in soon but nothing was bad enough to keep him at the hospital!
I'm THRILLED for them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK you for your prayers and support!
