I would like to write a poem or prayer for grieving and bereaved parents.

I learned of this site/service through our local news paper here in Toronto, and was both moved to tears and grateful it exists, all at the same time.

I want to help. I am a writer however – not a photographer. I also lost my first baby, to a miscarriage, and I truly understand the tremendous sense of helplessness and loss that parents feel at the loss of a child.

Parents can personalize their poem or prayer – by sharing with me any information you would like included – and once completed, I will mail it to you on nice paper suitable for framing or inclusion in a special album; or if you prefer, I can email it to you.

The poem/prayer can be what ever you like: an uplifting celebration of a precious yet brief life; or a meaningful goodbye to your baby. Parents can specify what they would prefer.

I would like to create a very special poem/prayer that will be unique – written specifically for your special baby. No individual poem/prayer will be given to more than one family.

Please send me an email if you are interested in personal poem or prayer.

Michelle,

What a wonderful gift to offer parents. Thank you for posting this. I have used many poems on the nilmdts.org web site, poems that parents have sent, or poems that I have found. Poetry is a powerful healing tool. I wrote several after Maddux died, and have only shared one. I will try to post this later...
Thank you Michelle, for this gift you are giving parents.
Many blessings to you...

Cheryl

Tristan Tyler Hill
June 18th, 2003

Tristan was an active boy
He would have loved to climb

He's with our other angels now
All walking in a line

Like six little ducklings
They follow one another

Tristan's in the lead
Of his sisters and his brothers

Thumper was his nickname then
And he's our peanut now

We know he's in good company
With angels in the clouds

Our Little Tyler

Born too early
And leaving too soon
Our Little Guy
Now plays around the moon

He glides through the clouds
Angels by his side
Playing peek-a-boo in the mist
Tyler just loves to hide!

In my tummy you would kick
Sometimes the whole day
We felt you loud and clear
Even then, you loved to play

In my tummy where you grew
Where we first felt you wiggle
Feeling you squirm,
How it made us giggle

We love you today
We loved you in my tummy
Our Little Guy made us a family
As your Daddy and your Mommy

When the sun shines
And I feel the warm breeze
We know you are near
Peeking at us through the trees

We cried for you today
As we still do once in a while
The loss of our sweet Lindsey
At times made it difficult to smile

We remembered you today
As our perfect little infant
You looked so calm and beautiful
We loved you in an instant

We imagined you today
As a toddler eating ice cream
You looked up and smiled at us
As you do in all our dreams

We laughed for you today
As Zach and Kaley smiled
We feel your presence every day
You are, our very first child

We dreamt of you today
Confident at graduation
Standing tall and beautiful
We’re the proudest parents in the nation

We wished for you today
On a lovely falling star
My wish is that you hear our words
No matter where you are

As we embrace our loss today
We hold your memory dear
We pray that you watch over us
We always feel you near

And so we pray for you today,
That you know you are precious
That you know you are loved
That your journey was peaceful
