My husband was in a motorcycle accident today. A car started to pull out in front of him and he laid his motorcycle down. Unfortunately, he wasn't wearing his helmet. The Lord had his hand on him and he 'only' got 9 staples in his head, severe road rash, a broken collar bone, a fractured rib, and a swollen knee. He is being kept in the hospital overnight for observation. I definitely had a bad few moments when I got the phone call. Anyway, keep us in your prayers, please.

Holy Mackerel!!!!! and a great big YIKES too!!
Sounds like he was very very fortunate and will be hurtin' like heck for awhile . . . broken bones are bad but anyone out there will tell you the real pain comes from the road rash!!!! We have sooo many nerve endings in our skin and it just plain hurts when you grate it off like cheese!!!
My best wishes and prayers for a speeding recovery!!!
Sounds like the man knows what he is doing laying his bike down like that . . . smart guy . . .

Oh wow...you will be in my thoughts and prayers today. I hope he's able to go home today and heal quickly. How scary for you.

We just got home a few minutes ago. He will have to go see an orthopedic surgeon to see if he wants to do anything about the collarbone because the ends are overlapping. They said he might want to do something or he might just leave it to heal as it is. Thank you for all your prayers.

I know how painful that can be....well my husband does. We were in a MVA and everthing ripped off his collarbone (muscle and all). He ended up having surgery. The remainder was left to heal on its own. If you need a specialist/doctor I can tell you who my husband went to. But all in all it took about 2 years before he had a good percent of range of movement back.
A pillow to hug when he would cough or sneeze helped some. I will be praying for your hubby.

Thank you for all your prayers. He went to both morning and evening church services today and was a praise singer at both of them. He's the drummer most of the time but he obviously will have to take a break from that.(no pun intended!) Tomorrow will start the seemingly endless round of paperwork and doctors appointments. We are just so thankful that what could have been fatal is just mainly a nuisance. It has made us grateful once again for the little things.

Just thought I'd let you all know that Darrell still hasn't been able to return to work. His shoulder is frozen and 5 weeks of physical therapy hasn't released it. He goes back to the orthopedic dr. on the 22nd to see if they are going to do surgery. He is on short term disability right now which is 60% of his normal income. I am a stay-at-home mom and I home school our kids so things are interesting to say the least! God has been good though.

Sorry to hear of your husband's continuing problems. My sister's husband is losing his job due to cutbacks at work; my sis also homeschools, but things are going to be really tight with only 60% (unemployment) until he can find something. And with the economy, who knows when that will be. My heart goes out to your family. Praying that God will continue to provide in these tough times for you and your family.

Well, we found out yesterday that my husband will have to have surgery on his shoulder. He will have it on November 11th. They will be scraping and cutting to try to restore mobility. Please keep us in your prayers. Thanks.

Darrell's surgery went very well. The Dr. had to scrape off arthritis buildup and cut something that was binding. He said if Darrell works hard with his P.T. that his range of motion should be good. Thanks for your prayers.
