I'm going to be a little selfish and ask for some prayers.
In abot 6 hours I'm picking up a uhaul to move to NY.
The last 3 days have been a nightmare ( I know nothing like the parents have been thru). I arrived in RI on wed night with ny 34 month grandson, a dog & 2 puppies. They all decieded to stay up half the night, and of course they were up early. Work all day Thursday & Friday trying to pack. Not that easy with a almost 3 year old around. Have to drive 1 hour to pick up my daughter & son in law from the ferry, then another hour home. Sat I was up at 4:45 am to set up the year last, didn't get rid of as much as I would have like nor did I make as much, but it's over. Up ealy Sunday for Mass, and the start of the big throw away. There's a 30 yard dumpster on my lawn. I'm a keeper & my daughter is just the opposit so it was really hard.Alot of stuff I donated & a bunch went to the curb. It's funny people will pick thru your garabage but they won't buy the stuff at the yard sale! One lady even wanted my son in law to help tie a bench to her car!!!
We were to leave on Monday but there was no way! So here I am totally spent, but I can't sleep. It's so hard to leave your home of 25 years. Wish me luck I know today won't be any easier. There have been a few tears.
I just can't wait for this to be over.Wed comes the fun when I try to get it all into the storage unit & my daughter's garage.
I know this has been long, & there are spelling mistakes (wish there was spell check) but I just need to vent.:(

Mary Louise . . .

Hey . . . it's totally stressful to move! BUT, you live in RI and are moving to NY so at least it's not all the way across the country . . .
Just think of all the new adventures that you are going to have! My guess is that in a very short period of time there will be an event that will take place that will let you know that you are right where you should be . . . there must be something in NY that really, really needs you . . .
I have moved all my life. I went to a different school almost every year . . . then once I was out on my own, I moved even more . . . I have definitely slowed down in the past 10 years but I LOVED every move and I have especially loved all the wonderful friends that I have made in those journeys . . . I still visit so many of them.
As for getting rid of stuff . . . GOOD!!! Possessions are just possessions and when we lighten our load, we lighten our lives, unclutter our minds and leave ourselves open to the possiblities that are coming . . .
I hope that you will let us know how things are going and that you arrive safe and sound at your new home . . . yes, this is nothing compared to what the parents go through on this site but you still have lots of reasons to feel overwhelmed and stressed . . . we are here for you and you can vent any ole time you want!!! Hang in there!!!

HUGS!!!

Mary Louise,
I hear you. I am a keeper of all things. I think I still have my grandfathers grade books from when he was in school. I don't know how you filled the dumpster, it must have been painful and I couldn't have done it.
I am thinking of you and praying for you. Have safe travel and be well.
I don't know what it is like to leave a home of 25 years. But I can tell you will take part of it with you no matter where you go. This move is a new chapter in your life. Let the adventure begin and pages fill with new, wonderful moments.
Please let us know how things are going. I look forward to hearing of your new home.
Blessings and Prayers,
Christine

Keeping you in my prayers that the rest of your move will go smoothly~ remember to take breaks frequently even if for just 5 minutes to catch your breath :o) If I lived closer, I would be more than glad to help you out! Take care, sending you hugs and a mesage!

Moving is so stressful! My wife is a keeper bless her soul. I dont have any issues with just getting rid of something that I have not used in a year but she has stuff with the price tags still on it and she bought it years ago. But think she will get rid of it - NO WAY! It has made our moves a little more stressful that need be but its always an adventure. Consider this a new start to the rest of your life. Take your time and rest often. Things will get done when they get done. There is always tomorrow..Our thoughts and prayers are with you! Hey I live in very rural PA...with you moving to Ny that makes us neighbors!
