Our hospital did a short news brief about nilmdts as an attemt to recruit some help. Here is the transcript:

I will try to get a link to video coverage if available. It appeared on last night's news at both 6 and 10. Both Melissa and myself were interviewed - but we were allowed to keep the focus on what we do and the need for volunteers, so hopefully, we'll get a few new recruits.

I just realized that the link posted changes daily - so I am copying and pasting the actual transcript below:

HAVING A CHILD IS SUCH
A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE
FULL OF EXCITEMENT, HOPE
AND JOY...
BUT IT'S SUCH AN
UNFORTUNATE AND
DEVASTATING EVENT WHEN
A BABY IS LOST.
AND ONE OF THE WAYS
FAMILIES CAN BEGIN THE
GRIEVING PROCESS IS BY
CHERISHING EVERY
MOMENT THEY HAD WITH
THEIR BABY.
------------------------------------------
WHEN A TINY BABY HAS
PASSES, MANY PARENTS
FIND THEMSELVES
OVERWHELMED WITH
EMOTION AND GRIEF.
KNOWING WHAT TO DO TO
AT A TIME LIKE THIS IS
NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE.
BUT NOW I LAY ME DOWN
TO SLEEP IS AN
ORGANIZATION THAT OFFERS
A HELPING HAND.
THEY ARE NON-PROFIT
NETWORK OF
PHOTOGRAPHERS
PROVIDING INFANT
BEREAVEMENT
PHOTOGRAPHY.
----------------
"What we do is try to create
memories of this baby for the
family."
----------------
AT THE PARENTS REQUEST
AND WITH THE DISCRETION
OF THE HOSPITAL, NOW I
LAY ME DOWN TO SLEEP
VOLUNTEER
PHOTOGRAPHERS COME TO
THE HOSPITAL OR HOSPICE
LOCATION AND CONDUCT A
GENTLE, SENSITIVE AND
PROFESSIONAL PHOTO
SESSION.
IF YOU HAVE
MISCONCEPTIONS OR FEARS
ABOUT INFANT
BEREAVEMENT
PHOTOGRAPHY -- YOU MUST
LOOK FROM A GRIEVING
PARENTS POINT OF
VIEW.
THEY HAVE NO MEMORIES
WITH THIS BABY AND THEY
WANT TO CAPTURE AND
REMEMBER EVERY MOMENT
POSSIBLE.
----------------
"One of the hardest things is
they're afraid of forgetting and
it helps them remember the
baby they lost."
----------------
"Just to make sure that we
have all those sweet
memories and memorabilia...
hand prints feet prints all that
the nurses can give us."
------------------
BUT THE PHOTOGRAPHERS
IN OUR AREA ARE LIMITED.
MELISSA HALL AND PATTY
PATTERSON WANT TO
ADDRESS THE NEED FOR
MORE VOLUNTEERS.
----------------
"If there were more
photographers the chances of
not being able to fulfill a call
and providing services to a
family would go way down
and we could meet the needs
of every family out there."
----------------
BOTH PATTERSON AND
HALL AGREE IT'S NOT AN
EASY THING TO DO, BUT
HELPING THESE FAMILIES
PROVIDES COMFORT FOR
ALL.
----------------
"When you figure out the need
is there then it's almost like
you have to do it."
---------------
AND NOW I LAY ME DOWN
TO SLEEP ALSO PROVIDES
SERVICES FOR TERMINALLY
ILL CHILDREN, AS WELL.
BUT, OF COURSE,
REACHING ALL OF THESE
FAMILIES IS DIFFICULT
WITHOUT THE HELP OF MORE
VOLUNTEER
PHOTOGRAPHERS.
---------------
"I've taken my talent to
another level I think that it's
even better than what I can
offer my client in my own
studio I think that it's a great
need."
----------------
AND IF YOU EVER NEED
THE SERVICES OF NOW I LAY
ON CAMERA TAG REMOVE BUG ME DOWN TO SLEEP THEIR
WEBSITE HAS A LIST OF
PHOTOGRAPHERS
AVAILABLE...
THEY ARE ALL JUST A
PHONE CALL AWAY.
------------------------------------------

Thanks Carrie! I have had one contact so far. I am hoping it works out and she signs up as we really need help here.

Miss Patty!! and all of you 'others'....... please consider this a personal invitation to join PPO here in Okla and attend the state convention Sept 12-16. The convention kicks off on Friday afternoon with a hands on photoshop workshop, print judging Sat, plus lots of other programs during print judging. and on Sunday, Ron Nichols will be giving 6 hours of using ProSelect with photoshop. Go to www.ppok.org and check out all of the great areas we can all gain from. Lighting, posing, and photoshop.

I am the convention manager this year, and NILMDTS(that is us photographers in Okla) will be having a booth encouraging others to join us in giving of our talents. I hope all of you will come and help 'man' the booth. You will not miss programs doing this, as the trade show will be open only when programs are not being given.
