I have been looking for something special for my son Willie that can give him some comfort. a poem, a book or anything that makes his grief and what he is going through easier. I know that in the early days after Cydney Paige passed, all the attention was focused on me and he felt alone and not important. I know that his grief is just as huge as mine, and like men he will show his grief differently. I did find "My Dad is a Survivor" poem for Winston and he was so moved to tears by it, I wish I could get something as special as that for Willie. Perhaps something shared by another sibling, who would be on the same wave length as he is.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Karla

Karla,
I just emailed something to you. It is a song by George Strait. Don't worry, it's legal. I bought the track, then erased it off my hard drive after I emailed it to you. Have your husband give it to Willie. The song is titled 'Love without End, Amen'. Tell your husband to tell Willie that this song is a gift from his heart to Willies Heart.

There is a picture book called "Lifetimes". I'm not sure if would be too "baby" for him. I find that even older kids love picture books, even though they might not want to admit it. It explains death as a natural part of life--not too mushy, it was great for my son. It was one of the few books I found that didn't talk about only elderly people dying.

Here is a wonderful resource for books on death and grief.
This first link is for books to help children and teens through the loss of a loved one:

This link is for books on death of a child/baby. Focusing mostly on parents, but there are some resources in here for children and grandparents:

Again, I hope this helps...
