August 12th marks one year since I lost my son Dylan. It was just 1 short week before his due date when he passed away. He was healthy till then, a super-kicker. Since then, I have been diagnosed with 1 copy of the Factor V Leiden gene. This gene causes clots, and probably caused his death.
I miss him, I wish he was here, and I often imagine what I'd be doing with him present. He should be scooting around and giving me more gray hair! My 2 children miss him, too.
I have come to some kind of peace, now. I know it has only been one year and the wounds are fresh. But I'm not a mess anymore. I realize he is at peace, in a better place, without suffering. I cannot change the past or bring him back, so instead I will honor his memory. The time I spent sharing my life and my body with my angel Dylan will be cherished. It may have been short, but it was sweet.
