Our first daughter Anna Grace was born on February 25th of this year. God took her to His home on that day. We learned that she died of Hemophilius Influneza. I have already talked to the AMAZING neonatalogist who reviewed Anna's report. I am just interested if there is anyone else out there who has heard of this or whose baby passed away from this as well. It is one of those things where it is common but its not at the same time.....If someone knows anything that would be helpful to understand, I would appreciate it:)

Dear Carrie,
I am saddened to hear of your daughters death. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your husband. If there is anything I or any of us here can do for you, please just ask.
I do not know about the condition your daughter died of. If you feel like sharing your daughter Anna with us here, I am sure that you will find much support. We do have a section just for fathers, and Scott Hays (photographer from Idaho) is really trying to get this room started. I know that it is so different for mothers and fathers, wives and husbands. Please know that you both are not alone.
We all share with you in your heartache. I hope that what you read on this forum, can somehow help aid you in your healing.
Much love and blessings,
Cheryl

P.S. Carrie, One of our mothers here is from Minnesota. Tammy Becker. I am not sure how far she would be from you, but I know she would be a wonderful person to reach out to. You might consider contacting her through email...
Just a thought.

I have heard of this, only because my second son, Alex, was stillborn due to an ascending uterine infection and I googled every bacterial and viral infection known to man. :o

Does the neonatologist have any idea how Anna contracted this?

I'm so sorry for your loss. If there is anything I can say/do, please just let me know.

Pretty much, all the doctors say that this bacteria is found in all pregnant women, especially since we all have these germs, it is just weather or not it chooses to grow. I did everything right, and my ob and the neonatalogist said that this is a fluke. We just hope and pray that this "fluke" doesn't happen again. My husband and I are only 26 years old....and we have already buried our first child.

Sounds very familiar. I think my perinatologist explained it as, "Something just went haywire and the bacteria grew out of control." (sigh) I'm sorry we have to "meet" under these circumstances. It sounds like you have good healthcare and hopefully you can find a way to manage a subsequent pregnancy to your comfort level.
